Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt until well combined.
- Make a well in the center of the dry ingredients and pour in the buttermilk and melted butter. Stir until a sticky dough forms, adding more buttermilk if necessary.
- Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and gently knead it for a minute or two until it comes together.
- Shape the dough into a round loaf and place it on the prepared baking sheet. Cut a deep cross into the top of the loaf.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
