Description
A simple yet elegant baked Brie appetizer topped with honey, nuts, and fruit. Perfect for parties, holidays, or casual gatherings, this dish delivers rich flavor with minimal effort.
Ingredients
1 whole wheel of Brie cheese (8 ounces / 225 grams)
2 tablespoons honey (30 ml) or maple syrup
¼ cup chopped nuts (30 g: walnuts, pecans, or almonds)
¼ cup dried fruit (40 g: cranberries, figs, or apricots), finely chopped
1 teaspoon fresh rosemary (or ½ teaspoon dried)
1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or ½ teaspoon dried)
1 sheet puff pastry (optional)
1 egg (beaten, for puff pastry egg wash if used)
Crackers, sliced baguette, or apple slices for serving
Instructions
Step 1: Prepare the Brie
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Place Brie on a parchment-lined baking sheet or in an oven-safe dish. Leave rind intact or remove the top for a gooey finish.
Step 2: Add Toppings
Drizzle honey over Brie. Sprinkle nuts, dried fruit, and herbs evenly across the top.
Step 3: Optional Puff Pastry Wrapping
Place Brie in center of puff pastry sheet. Fold pastry edges over and seal. Brush with beaten egg.
Step 4: Bake
Bake for 15–20 minutes until Brie softens and toppings caramelize. If using puff pastry, bake 25 minutes until golden brown.
Step 5: Serve
Cool 3–5 minutes. Serve warm with crackers, baguette slices, or fruit.
Notes
Swap honey for balsamic glaze and caramelized onions for a savory version.
Add hot honey or chili flakes for a sweet-spicy flavor.
Freeze unbaked puff pastry Brie up to 1 month; bake straight from frozen, adding 10 minutes.
