Description

When breakfast meets dessert and lunch, the result is a masterpiece of indulgence — the Donut Grilled Cheese Bacon Maple. This sweet-and-savory sandwich blends soft glazed donuts, crispy bacon, melted cheese, and warm maple syrup. The flavor contrast creates a rich, satisfying bite perfect for brunch or an indulgent snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Main Components

4 glazed donuts, halved horizontally (34 inches diameter)

4 slices thick-cut bacon (≈120 g)

4 slices cheddar or American cheese (≈80100 g)

2 tbsp unsalted butter, softened (≈30 g)

2 tbsp pure maple syrup (≈30 ml)

Optional Additions

¼ tsp ground black pepper

Pinch of sea salt

Drizzle of hot honey or chili flakes

1 tbsp cream cheese or mascarpone

Instructions

Prepare the Bacon:
Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment. Lay out bacon slices and bake 15–18 minutes until crisp. Transfer to paper towels. Brush lightly with maple syrup if desired and let cool.

Toast the Donuts:
Slice each donut like a bagel. Toast halves cut-side down on a non-stick pan over medium heat for 1 minute per side until golden and slightly caramelized. Set aside.

Assemble the Sandwich:
Butter the outer sides of each donut half. Layer the bottom half with 1 cheese slice, 2 bacon slices, and 1 tbsp maple syrup. Add another cheese slice and top with the other donut half.

Grill:
Heat a skillet over medium-low. Grill the sandwiches 2–3 minutes per side, pressing lightly until cheese melts and the donut surface crisps. Let rest 1 minute before cutting.

Notes

Heat control prevents burning glaze.

Use pure maple syrup for real flavor depth.

Try Havarti or gouda for a creamier melt.

Avoid microwaving leftovers to preserve texture.
