Description

This Classic Chicken Cordon Bleu recipe features tender chicken breasts filled with savory ham and melted Swiss cheese, all baked to perfection and served with a creamy white wine sauce.


Ingredients

3 tablespoons all-purpose flour

1 teaspoon paprika

6 skinless boneless chicken breast halves

6 slices Swiss cheese

6 slices ham

6 tablespoons butter

½ cup dry white wine

1 teaspoon chicken bouillon granules

1 cup heavy whipping cream

1 tablespoon cornstarch


Instructions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  • In a small bowl, mix the flour and paprika together.
  • Place each chicken breast between two pieces of plastic wrap and pound them to an even thickness.
  • Remove the plastic wrap, and layer each chicken breast with a slice of ham and a slice of Swiss cheese.
  • Roll up each chicken breast tightly and secure with toothpicks.
  • Dredge each chicken roll in the flour mixture, shaking off any excess.
  • In a large skillet, melt butter over medium heat. Add the chicken and cook until golden brown on all sides.
  • Transfer chicken to a baking dish and pour the white wine and chicken bouillon around the chicken.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until chicken is cooked through.
  • In the meantime, combine heavy cream and cornstarch in a saucepan over medium heat. Stir until thickened, and season to taste.
  • Serve the chicken cordon bleu drizzled with the creamy sauce.

Notes

For an extra crispy texture, consider breading the chicken rolls before baking.
