1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour
½ cup cocoa powder
1 teaspoon baking soda
¼ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon salt
½ cup unsalted butter
melted
½ cup granulated sugar
½ cup brown sugar
2 large eggs
at room temperature
4 very ripe bananas
mashed
1 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup chocolate chips (plus extra for topping)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
- In another bowl, combine melted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until well mixed.
- Add eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract to the sugar mixture and mix until combined.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chips, reserving a few for the top.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan and sprinkle the reserved chocolate chips on top.
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For a more intense chocolate flavor, you can add extra cocoa powder or chocolate chips. Ensure your bananas are very ripe for the best sweetness.
