Description
Cheesy Steak and Queso Rice is a quick and delicious dinner option that combines savory sirloin steak with creamy queso and fluffy rice, ready in just 15 minutes.
Ingredients
1 tbsp olive oil
1 lb sirloin steak thinly sliced against the grain
1 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp onion powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika
Salt and black pepper to taste
1 cup uncooked white rice
2 cups chicken broth or water
1/2 cup store-bought queso blanco or Velveeta cheese sauce
1/4 cup shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese optional for extra cheesiness
2 tbsp chopped fresh cilantro for garnish
Instructions
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
- Add the sliced sirloin steak and season with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes.
- Meanwhile, in a saucepan, combine the uncooked rice and chicken broth. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 15-20 minutes until the rice is tender.
- Once the steak is cooked and the rice is ready, combine the rice with the steak in the skillet.
- Stir in the queso blanco until everything is well-coated and heated through.
- For extra cheesiness, sprinkle with shredded Monterey Jack or cheddar cheese and let it melt.
- Serve hot, garnished with chopped fresh cilantro.
Notes
For added flavor, consider marinating the steak in your favorite spices for a few hours before cooking. Adjust cheese quantities according to your preference.
