Ingredients
All-Purpose Flour
Sharp Cheddar Cheese
Unsalted Butter
Fresh Jalapeños
Salt
Garlic Powder (optional)
Black Pepper or Smoked Paprika (optional)
Cream or Water (if needed)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened unsalted butter and sharp cheddar cheese until smooth.
- Gradually add in the all-purpose flour and salt, mixing until just combined.
- Fold in the finely chopped jalapeños, and any optional ingredients like garlic powder or smoked paprika.
- If the dough feels too crumbly, add a tablespoon or two of cream or water to help it come together.
- Roll the dough into a log shape, wrap it in plastic wrap, and chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
- Once chilled, slice the log into rounds and place them on the prepared baking sheet.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool slightly before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For added richness, experiment by mixing different types of cheese. Store in an airtight container for up to a week.
