Description
Cajun Boiled Eggs are a spicy, flavorful twist on traditional boiled eggs, infused with rich seasonings and served in a savory broth. Perfect for a snack or appetizer.
Ingredients
4 eggs
1 tablespoon unsalted butter
1 tablespoon garlic
minced
1 ½ teaspoon Old Bay seasoning
1 teaspoon sugar
¼ heaping teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon lemon pepper seasoning
¾ teaspoon paprika
½ teaspoon red chili flakes (or to taste)
⅔ cup chicken bone broth or vegetable broth
low sodium
1 tablespoon lemon juice
Kosher salt
optional
Chopped parsley
for garnish
Instructions
- Place the eggs in a saucepan and cover them with water. Bring to a boil over medium heat, then cook for 9-12 minutes, depending on your desired level of doneness.
- Once cooked, transfer the eggs to an ice bath to cool for 5 minutes. Peel the eggs and set aside.
- In a skillet, melt the butter over medium heat and add the minced garlic. Sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute.
- Stir in the Old Bay seasoning, sugar, onion powder, lemon pepper, paprika, and red chili flakes. Mix well until combined.
- Pour in the chicken or vegetable broth and lemon juice, and let it simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Add the boiled eggs to the skillet and gently coat them with the Cajun sauce. Simmer for an additional 5 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.
- Season with Kosher salt if desired and remove from heat.
- Garnish with chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
Feel free to adjust the red chili flakes according to your spice preference. These eggs also make a great addition to salads or sandwiches.
