1/2 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1 (10.5 oz / 300 g) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
1/4 cup (60 ml) ketchup
1/4 cup (60 ml) milk
2 cups (200 g) shredded cheddar cheese, divided
For the Topping:
1 (32 oz / 900 g) bag frozen tater tots
1/4 cup (25 g) chopped green onions or chives (optional, for garnish)

Instructions
Step 1: Cook the Bacon and Beef
Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch (23×33 cm) baking dish.
In a skillet, cook bacon until crisp. Remove and crumble. Drain most of the grease, leaving 1 tablespoon for flavor.
Add ground beef and onion to the skillet. Cook until the beef is browned and the onion is soft.
Stir in garlic, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, salt, and pepper. Cook for another minute, then drain any excess fat.
Step 2: Prepare the Filling
Reduce heat to medium and stir in cream of mushroom soup, ketchup, and milk. Mix until smooth.
Add half of the bacon and 1 cup (100 g) of cheddar cheese. Stir until the cheese melts and blends evenly.
Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
Spread the beef mixture evenly in the prepared baking dish.
Arrange tater tots in a single layer on top.
Sprinkle the remaining 1 cup (100 g) of cheese evenly over the tots.
Step 4: Bake
Bake uncovered for 35–40 minutes, or until the tater tots are golden and crispy.
Optional: Broil for 2–3 minutes for extra crispness.
Let rest for 5–10 minutes before serving to allow layers to set.
