Ingredients
12 mozzarella sticks (string cheese or cut from a block)
2 eggs
beaten
1/2 cup flour (or gluten-free all-purpose)
1 cup breadcrumbs (panko gets you peak crunch)
1/2 cup grated Parmesan (flavor booster)
1 tsp Italian seasoning
1/2 tsp garlic powder
1/2 tsp smoked paprika (optional but highly recommended)
Salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil spray (for that golden finish)
Instructions
- Preheat your air fryer to 390°F (200°C).
- Set up a breading station with three bowls: flour in the first, beaten eggs in the second, and a mixture of breadcrumbs, Parmesan, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper in the third.
- Coat each mozzarella stick in flour, dip it in the beaten eggs, and then roll it in the breadcrumb mixture until fully coated.
- Spray the coated mozzarella sticks with olive oil spray to ensure a crispy finish.
- Place the mozzarella sticks in the air fryer basket in a single layer, making sure they do not touch each other.
- Air fry for 6-8 minutes, or until they are golden brown and crispy.
- Serve hot with marinara sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.
Notes
For the best results, freeze the breaded mozzarella sticks for about 30 minutes before cooking. This helps them hold their shape and stay gooey inside.
